Milo had a very important job.

He was supposed to help Theodore bake cookies.

But while Theodore carefully mixed the flour and Lulu stirred the chocolate chips, Milo kept getting distracted.

First he chased a butterfly.

Then he tried balancing a spoon on his nose.

Then he started dancing around the kitchen singing, “Cookie cookie cookie!”

When the cookies were finally ready, Theodore counted them carefully.

“One… two… three…”

He stopped.

“Wait a minute… where did the extra cookie go?”

Everyone looked around.

Then they noticed Milo sitting very still with chocolate all around his mouth.

“Milo…” said Lulu, trying not to laugh.

Milo blinked innocently.

“It disappeared.”

Theodore laughed so hard he nearly dropped the cookie tray.

After that day, Milo was still allowed to help bake cookies… but only after promising not to eat the “missing” ones first.
