Milo and the Super Fast Race

Milo was sure he was the fastest runner in the whole park.

“I’m faster than the wind!” he shouted.

So Theodore drew a big starting line in the dirt while Lulu clapped excitedly.

“Ready…

Steady…

GO!”

Milo zoomed forward as fast as he could.

But after only a few seconds, he stopped.

A caterpillar was crossing the path.

“Well,” said Milo seriously, “we can’t race while a tiny caterpillar is still walking.”

So he waited patiently.

Then he stopped again to watch birds.

Then to smell flowers.

Then to jump over sticks.

By the time Milo finally reached the finish line, Lulu and Theodore were already sitting there eating snacks.

“Did I win?” Milo asked.

Theodore smiled.

“You had the most interesting race.”

Milo grinned proudly.

That sounded even better.
